Hi guys, I wasn't able to find an answer to my question, so I decided to start a new discussion.

Is there a way to give slides an absolute reference? Lets imagine I use a slide number in a script (for example in a nevigation menu) and add some other slides in between - can i achieve any way of not having to change the slide number in the script?

I'm using adobe captivate 8.

If you name your slide then what ever you link to it should update.  Lilibri stresses the importance of naming slides and objects all the time.  After my last project I'm a real believer.  I had buttons that were to show or hide objects and I needed this function on various slides.  So I copy and pasted the  buttons and objects to the appropriate slides and they still worked.  Captivate just added a number to them to make them unique.  It even updated the shared actions I was using.Good luck with your project. Thank you Susan, I'll listen to both of your advice and see if I can solve the problem!

I think a little more information would be helpful. Can you post your script and where it is being executed?

    Hey,

I was introduced into the wrong word I guess. I was talking about actions . I'll try Susan and Lilybiris answers for now

I will never use slide numbers in a script (although they will be adapted when inserting slides), I always use slide labels which are 'absolute' if of course you take care to give unique names. Maybe I misunderstand your question, what do you mean by 'script'? For me it is an advanced or shared actions, but what I explain is also possible for JS or AS.

Indeed I was talking about actions, thanks a lot, I'll name my slides from now on!
