Accessibility Issues - Tabbing (Cross Post)

I've created a quiz within my Captivate file using the built in multiple choice and true false questions.  Accessibility is turned on for the file yet on some questions you are unable to move through the question using the keyboard when exported to swf.

Has anyone else run into this and If so, how'd you fix it?   (If it was to create a custom slide I'd love the instructions for creating and scoring a single answer and a multiple choice multiple correct answers where each question is only worth one point).

Thanks!

Creating a custom slide takes a little bit of front end work, but once you complete it you are simply a click or two away from duplicating and having a easier development process for the future. Turning on Accessibility alone will do nothing to get you closer to 508 compliance. All it does is simply turn on the features. You as the developer have to go in and do the work to ensure those accessibility features are utilized. As for tabbing, the Tab order for Captivate is determined by the interactivity of the objects on your slide(s). Static objects like text captions, images, click boxes... cannot be added to the Tab order. The only way around it is to use the Smartshape as Button feature, add the appropriate alt text, and layer them with the static objects in your slide. SWF is not recommended for Captivate elearning developers to use anymore because Flash is being phased out and will not be supported in the future. HTML5 is the future. SWF also has other problems relating to 508 compliance that have been mentioned in other threads.

I dpn't agree with the statement 'little bit more work', at least if you want to reproduce ALL the functionality of the default quiz slides: Review, Retake on quiz level, partial scoring and negative points, Submit All, Branch aware to mention only a few. I have many articles ob my blog about creating custom question slides with and without the use of  widgets. Here are two examples, don't tell me that those quiz slides did take only 'a little bit more work':

Custom Hotspot questions in Captivate 8 - Captivate blog

Custom Short Answer Question - Captivate blog

Reporting custom question slides to a LMS is another problem not to be underestimated. If you are working with partial scoring, this is onl possible using JavaScript. For non-partial scoring I described two possible ways:

Report Custom Questions - part 1 - Captivate blog

Report Custom Questions - part 2 - Captivate blog

I love to use custom question slides, when the normal quiz slides are lacking functionality like in the two first posts, or when the client wants to have multiple T/F questions on one slide. It comes with a cost however, in terms of working hours.

It is hard work, no doubt. There are many hours of tweaking, testing, re-tweaking. But it is a worthwhile investment of hours. From the hours you spend now, you save many more hours later on future projects.

I have a 1 hour, 20-minute course on creating custom question slides in Adobe Captivate 2017 if you're interested. It covers both multiple choice single answer and multiple choice multiple answer questions and scoring.
