Add pause to slide in mp4 video

I created a project that has 5 buttons on the first page to let viewers choose which part of the video they want to view. I added a pause equal to the duration of the slide to all of the buttons; however, when I generate the project in mp4 format, the pause is not respected. The video continues. The pause works well when I generate in html format. Is there a way to get a video to pause until a user clicks a button? I am using Captivate 8.

Thank you.

MP4 is simply a video format. As such, there can be NO interactivity. It's like a DVD you rent and watch. Sure, you can pause playback using the player controls, but there is no way to coax it to pause on its own.
