Adding background to the film

Dear all,

I'm new to Captivate and obviously new to this forum. I've already found answers to some questions I had as a beginner and I hope you, guys, can help me with this one.

I have a film that explains how to use software that our company created. However, I'd like to add a background to each slide that will serve as a "frame" for the whole movie. It should contain our company's initials etc. I couldn't find how to do it in Captivate. In other words, I need to expand the already recorded slides to include the frame. Is it possible? Another option for that could be to first create a background and then record a movie whose size will fit in the frame... Is it at all possible?

Thank you very much,
Mariana

    Hi Mariana,

    Welcome to the forums.

Adobe Captivate can handle image files through a "copy" command (from software shuch as Photoshop) then "Paste as Background" command in Captivate. I usually use BMP files.

So, use Photoshop as your image editing software and make the image you desire. Save the master in a layered photoshop file (in case you want to change things around later but don't want to re-create anything). Then in Photoshop, save as a BMP file.

Open Captivate then open the BMP file in Photoshop, select all the image in Photoshop and copy. Navigate to your project in Captivate and "Paste as Background". That's it.

    Hi TPK!
Thank you very much for your answer! Does that mean though that after creating a movie I have to go into each slide and change its background to look the way I want it to look?

    Thank you,
    Mariana

Hi Mariana and welcome to our community

One way you might approach this would be to create the image you desire, insert it on the first slide and configure its timing to run for the rest of your project.

If it obscures more of your existing project than you are comfortable with, you could also click Project > Resize Project and resize your project to a larger size, leaving the main part of the movie intact and centered within the new area.

    Cheers... Rick
