adding Captivate movie into RoboHelp

What is the best method to add a Captivate 4 demo movie into RoboHelp? Is it important to put Captivate assets into the RoboHelp Baggage File's folder?

I've read about various methods, so am asking the experts on this forum. (If this question belongs in the RoboHelp forum, just let me know.)

Hi Jay

The way I work with it is as follows:

After you are ready, be sure to close the project in Captivate. This bit is odd, because If the project is still open in the editor, the process will gag RoboHelp.

From RoboHelp you have basically two ways to insert the content. It depends on how you want the end user to experience things.

1. You may insert the Captivate content into a RoboHelp Topic that has other information. Perhaps it's a step-by-step and you want the Captivate demo for step 2. From there, you would click Insert > Adobe Captivate Demo and browse to the SWF you will insert. RoboHelp will then create the needed code to present the Captivate from inside the topic. Unless you are linking to something from Captivate or you have some FLVs or Full Motion Clips, there is no need to add anything to RoboHelp's Baggage Files. RoboHelp will handle copying the SWF to the project. If you have FLVs, Full Motion Clips or possibly other Flash elements that would need to be on a server, you will need to ensure those are added to the RoboHelp Baggage files.

2. You may wish to instead just import the Captivate files and link to them. In this case the end user will click a link in your RoboHelp topic and the Captivate will open a separate Topic page to view. Possibly even in a new window. To do this, you would click File > Import and navigate to the Captivate folder and point at the HTM page Captivate created. RoboHelp will then import that page and the SWF. But doubtfully the standard.js file. So you may need to ensure it's added to Baggage Files. (Even if RoboHelp successfully copied it, it will never hurt to have it as a Baggage File too)

Hopefully this was helpful... Rick
