Question

Adding Speech Agent to Text Caption

Hi All,

My first time here and I am also still a little new at Captivate. I have a quick and cheerful question that I hope someone can help me with.

I have a slide that has several text captions on it. Each has a quote. I would like to generate audio for "each" caption. And I would like to use the voice provided by a speech agent.

How do I do this? Could you please guide me in steps written like this:

I have:

1. selected the text caption

2. Opened properties.

3. Went to add audio - but I only have the option of recording my own voice and it sucks for recording.

4. Tried other options, and failed miserably at trying to succeeed.

5. Found hope in this forum.

Thanks to anyone who can help,

CoolAuniteBB

Just do this:

  1. Insert a blank slide
  2. Add the text that you want for the voiceover to the Slide Notes panel for the new slide.
  3. Use the Text To Speech functionality in Captivate to generate the audio file for the slide.  This audio is now in your Library.
  4. Select your text caption where you want the audio to appear and go to the Audio section of the Properties tab.
  5. Select the TTS audio file from the Library as the audio for your text caption.
  6. Hide or delete your dummy slide.  If you want to continue using this slide to generate more audio files, go ahead.  Each new one you create will just be added to the Library, which makes them available for you to select as needed for other objects.

Mr. RodWard - This is absolutely perfect! Thank you so much.

Could I also ask? , When I look at the audio clips in the library I see they

are listed under file names such as "text to audio 9" Is there a way I can

change the file name, or is there a way I am suppose to put the file names

in correctly in the first place. My goal is to put a file name that

identifies what the audio would say. IE: audio contains car sounds so I'd

like to name the file Race Car.

Much thanks again,

If you double click the name of the audio file in the Library, a dialog will pop up and you can edit the name of the file there.
