Question

Adjusting Slide Duration/Length?

Hello all. I am new to screencasting and  I just began using CP5 and created my first slide.  It was in automatic mode, not Full Motion and just over a minute long.

Well, I began coughing and stopped the recording.  Is there a way to trim off the last couple of seconds of this slide so I can continue the screen cast I was working on?  I fear the solution is staring me right in the face and I just cannot see it.

Apologies for what is probably a ridiculously simple fix.

Thanks!

Never mind, I answered my own question. I learned that by double-clicking on the audio file, an audio editor will pop

up and allow me to make a trim.

THanks again!

Thank you both for your help.  Both of your suspicions were correct.  I recorded sound

simultaneously with the screen capture, therefore my audio file was longer than my desired duration.  I will definitely

not make that mistake again.

But, Captiv8ter, I do have a question about editing the audio clip.  If understand what you meant, you are saying I can edit the clip independent of the slide(to get rid of my cough) and then the slide will be trimmed to the correct length?

Thanks for your help!

Hi there

Perhaps your audio clip and slide are 20 seconds long. You edit the audio clip and remove the last three seconds. At this point it would be 17 seconds long but the slide would still be 20 seconds. You would then need to adjust the sllde so it is 17 seconds in duration. It doesn't automatically adjust to match the duration of the audio.

Hello,

If you did Automatic recording, you do have slides, not a video. Have a look at the slides, probably the last ones and just delete those you do not want. Slide duration can be changed, but do not know it this is the solution you need: you can drag the end point of a slide in the Timeline, or adjust the length of a slide in the Properties panel, region General (look for Display time).

But since you are talking about 'coughing' I think you recorded audio at the same time as the screen capture (wouldn't recommend that personally, I'm always doing audio afterwards to concentrate on one thing at the time). You can edit audio on a slide, check the Audio menu.

Hi there

You do this in a few different ways.

You can use the Slide properties dialog:

Or you may click and drag the end of the slide in the Timeline:

However, I'm guessing that neither of these will work for you. My guess is that you were recording audio simultaneously. This means your slide will have an audio file attached. To adjust the slide timing you will probably need to edit the audio clip and make it shorter.

Cheers... Rick
