I am trying to use the ADL/SCORM TestSuite. It doesn't seem to do anything! I enter the info and browse for the file and click continue and it just sits there and never gives me results. Can anyone tell me how to use this thing?

I found modifying the ADL test suite so that it ran on our LMS's webservers (Instead of just locally) most beneficial.

In our case, our webservers are case sensitive so testing in an environment that matches our LMS makes our work more valid. I also like that it adds in some latency you wouldn't see when testing locally.

This get's around the issues where active X/Java/Flash might get in the way as your LMS webservers should already be trusted sites etc..

I've only done this for the 1.2 suite so far, so YMMV on 2004.

As I recall I just changed the "browse to launch page" prompt to just let me type in the relative URL for my content and fixed a couple cases of referenced files.

Hi there,

From the published html file, remove the below line and then try loading in ADL Test Suite.

<!-- saved from url=(0013)about:internet -->

thanks

That worked !!

The second line of code, that was already commented out.

<!-- saved from url=(0013)about:internet -->

deleting it so that the top two lines are now

<!-- Copyright [2008] Adobe Systems Incorporated. All rights reserved -->
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" " http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">

That did the trick.

Thanks

Have you updated your browser since your last successful test?

We recently tried one of our homebrew pieces here - using code that has
always successfully passed the Test Suite - and it too would not
initialize the API. Our pros think something changed in FF/IE browsers
that prevents JS from initializing the API the way that the Test Suite
presents it ('frame in a frame' or something like that).

It works fine in our LMS so we didn't fret, and I'd think I'd see a much
bigger outcry if this were truly an issue, AND we didn't test on
machines that have older browsers installed...

But just interesting that our homemade, non-CP lessons also seem to have
had this same issue in the Test Suite...?

I have used the ADL SCORM 1.2.7 test bed for years as well. When I tossed a new Cap 4 course against it I got the same results as others in this thread, it would not initialize. The course seems to work on the LMS, although we are trying to fine tune the way it sets completion in Peoplesoft ELM, which can be tricky.

I assumed it was on my end, tested another home grown, all Flash course and it initialized and marked completion just fine. I went back and tested a Cap 3 course that has been working fine for months on the LMS, same results, no luck with ADL 1.2.7.

If anyone has a solution I would REALLY appreciate it. I LOVE to test on the test bed first, see what I am setting and passing before I toss it into the black ELM pit.

I am trying to use the ADL/SCORM Test Suite 1.2.7 to test for Captivate SCORM 1.2

I use it all the time with eLearning created with other tools and it is a great way to gate releases without uploading to the LMS multiple times, or to send a log to a customer before they put the content on their LMS.

For some reason Captivate courses never initialize when run through the Runtime test or the full packaging test. I have followed suggestions such as changing the security settings in Flash player to trust the local file location of the content etc. to no avail. Anyone with insight on this? My customer insists on a complete successful package log to accept the content.

Thanks in advance!

Hello "Sonja H",
The site for ADL/SCORM TestSuite 1.2 is located at this link. There are links for "Common Questions" and so forth on this site, and I suggest you try to find your answer there. You might get lucky and find someone here who has knowledge of this (unrelated) software and how to run it - and I hope you do - but I'm not optimistic about your chances.

Rather like asking the manufacturer of your tires to tell you why your car won't start . . . In any case, good luck!
