Adobe Captivate 8 usage

Hi everyone,

In Captivate 8, if i create a simulation project, does it also produce word files and PDF files in the background? where can i locate those files?

Here are other questions I have for Captivate 8:

- once I publish the project into a video file, can i still edit and re-save into a new video file?

- i have specific fonts needed for the client's video simulation and have installed in my laptop, but I still can't find it in Captivate. where/how do i add the fonts to the Captivate 8 software?

- there are also logos needed. how do i insert those images?

Thank you!

Hmmm, I am totally confused by your terminology and I'm afraid it is the same for BDuckWorks.

You start asking about a simulation file, which means to me that you are creating a cptx-project, not a cpvc-project which is a pure video project and has a dedicated video editor.

What do you mean by 'publishing into a video file': is this from a cptx-file and are you talking about publishing to a MP4 which is a video file format?

Anyway BDuckWorks is correct, that the compiled file, the published file whether it is a MPT4, a SWF or a HTML5 file, cannot be edited directly. You have to edit the source file and republish. Adobe Premiere can be used to edit a video file, not to edit a published HTML5 output.

Captivate cannot embed fonts, but all fonts on your laptop should be available to Captivate. You need to tell (again) how do you want to publish? In some cases it is better to keep with web safe fonts if you are going to publish a responsive project, or even a HTML5 project. If you publish to SWF, most text will be converted into images, with the exception of dynamic text that is created on runtime.

There is a Media button that allows to insert all kind of assets.

File, Print allows to print but only to Word, you get different word layouts. Templates could need some refurbishing.

For SWF output you can add an interactive PDF, but users will need to have both Adobe Reader and Flash player installed to see that interactive PDF.

Word and PDF files aren't created automatically, select those options using File -> Print.

Keep in mind that these files do not sync back to Captivate, any changes to the Word or PDF file should likely be made in Cp as well.

Once you publish into a video file, Captivate has very limited abilities to edit the published file.

You may have better luck editing with a video editing application like Adobe Premier.

You may still edit the Captivate file and re-publish to make major changes.

Logos in the production are added by importing, or drag and drop, to the library pallet. Then items are placed on the stage to be made visible within the Captivate project.
