Hello all,

I want to create an english - french tutorial with adobe captivate.

So on the first slide I'll put 2 buttons so the users could choose beetween english and french.

My question is how can i link my slide so that when the user clicks on english it jumps to the english slides or french slides in case they choose french. I know there is a jump fonction. But even if it jumps to french slide at the end it will continue to english slide

Any suggestion to do it better ?

    Hi

You mean the link in the post dated 11/7 just above yours? I just clicked it and it works for me.

I'm wondering if it is because your forum profile doesn't include enough history. You may wish to double-check that by clicking the "Profile" link and editing your settings.

    Yes,

Now I can open the 2 others project when i click on the buttons.

But they open in new windows....

I want to open the other project in the same window than the main project window (the one which has the button)

    Thanks

    I tried it :
    Main project with 2 buttons
and each of them link to the .cp ("open other projet")

How shoul I publish the 3 project

Because I publish the main project with the 2 button (.exe) but when I open the publish project and I click on my button, it open the other project in new windows, and some times i have an error : "$" is not a valid integer value

All my files are in the same folder

    Hi again

While it seems confusing, that error means that the file you are linking from cannot locate the file you are linking to. Are you certain that all the output files are in the same folder? The fact you are seeing the message would suggest otherwise.

To give you more details on my project :

    English
    . course 1
    . course 2
    French
    . cours 1
    . cours 2

So the user will be able to chose for exemple English. And after that he will choose for example course 2

So in this case do you suggest that i create 5 projets (Menu(traffic cop), course 1, course 2, cours 1, cours 2)

If yes, how can i link all that

    Welcome to our community, Armand

You could create three projects. One would be used as the "traffic cop" to direct the user to one of the other two projects. The other two projects would be the English or French projects.

However, this is assuming that each project (English and French) would fit within the recommended maximum project sizes. If not, you could then daisy chain them together.

    Hi again

On average, we normally recommend a broad and general upper limit of 50-65 slides. But this varies. There are many factors. Some folks get away with as many as 120-150 with no issues while others see projects choke at 30 slides. It all depends on overall PC resources, elements used in the project and overall size of the project from the pixel standpoint.

From the first project you could insert two buttons. Each one would be configured with the option "Open other project". This option confuses many folks because what you do is browse to and choose the .CP file for the other project. Many folks grow confused at this point and falter thinking, NO! My end user will only have a .SWF or .EXE and won't have Captivate. The thing is, internally, Captivate knows what it's doing. So trust it and it should work just dandy.

    Cheers... Rick
