It seems you don't know how question slides are set up in Captivate. The Next button has a double functionality: during quiz it is a Skip button, which means no score at all. It is necessary during Review to avoid blocking the user on question slides. If you don't provide Review of the quiz, you can get rid of the Next button totally. If you provide Review, drag the Next button under the Clear button (can be done on the quiz master slides). That way it will not be visible during quiz, but becomes visible during Review where the Clear button is automatically removed.

This has changed in Captivate 9, but you are still on 8.

The Submit process is a two-step process. If you want to learn more about the design of quizzes, have a look at my post:

Clicking the Submit button evaluates your answer to find out if it is correct or not.  Only a correct answer will be allocated a score.

If you click NEXT that will NOT evaluate your answer but will just skip to the next question and you will get no score.

Many quiz users will accidentally click the Next button unless you make it VERY apparent that they should click SUBMIT.  Alternatively you can remove the NEXT button from the quiz so that they can ONLY click Submit.  That's another way to avoid the issue.

thanks rodward,

it is good idea to keep the submit button very big in the middle and keep the next button as "go to your next question" . thanks

lilybrown
