Akamai netsession installer failure

Trying to install Akamai Netsession on Mac 10.9 with lots of open space/12 GB memory, in order to get Captivate 8 trial version. Running the downloaded Akamai downloaded repeatedly fails, and only error message is to contact manufacturer. Exerpt from log files from Akamai installer includes this statement: "Vmac_installer_28057c9_1.9.1.1:141026_175600: [eror] postinstall:main::installMain(197): Couldn't start client." When I try to bypass the Netsession process and download the Demo directly from Adobe by clicking on the "File 1 of 1" link from within the Akamai download window, nothing at all happens. Very frustrating! Anyone have any ideas?

    Here we are 3 years later and I'm having the same problem you did with no easy to find solutions. Did you ever get it figured out?

    There is an easy solution, which I posted regularly: without Akamai you can legally always download from ProDesignTools site:
