Question

An interesting problem

I have a Captivate 2017 Responsive Project, which was working.

I shut my laptop down, went out side to work, powered up my laptop and connected to the wifi.

I noticed after publishing the file, that the buttons on each page had stopped appearing and that the slides would also continue by themselves.

I then shut the laptop down, went back to my office and reconnected to LAN and the problem still exists.

I thought the file must have gotten corrupted, somehow.

I then downloaded an older version from my Dropbox and it exhibited the same behaviour.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Captivate and this did not help with either file.

Now it gets strange(er).

When I look at each slide in the filmstrip and then preview or publish the project it works perfectly.

If I look at slide 1 to 10 in the filmstrip, then slides 1 - 10 will work perfectly and all others will not work.

When I save the file to a different filename or location I get the same problem, when I open it again.

I have also cleared the Captivate Cache.

I installed Captivate 2017 on a different computer and got the same results and behaviour.

The file itself appears to be OK and I think it is as I had the same issue with an older version that I know worked or it is a really, really weird corruption of the file.

I hope this makes sense.

Looking forward to other peoples thoughts?

Quick update.

I copied all the slides and pasted them into a blank responsive project and it seems to be working again.

Still doesn't make any sense.

If copying and pasting slides into a new project resolves the issue, the usual reason is that the project had become corrupted and some of the object IDs were in conflict.

Another thing to try in future is to reset your Preferences and Layouts folders, just in case the corruption has originated from there.
