animate motion for a group?

I've grouped an (Smartshape) arrow and box together.  I want them to move left to right as a group, as if the arrow is pushing the box.  When I click on Effects in the Timeline for the group, everthing is greyed out. I can click on the arrow and the box individually and do effects > motion  path > left to right., but I can't coordinate their movements.  Anyone know of a way to do this?

Thanks.

Correct answer Lilybiri

Hi Lilybiri,

Thanks, I will send in a request for that.  I am also a newbie, just learning Captivate.  How do I create the arrow and box "on the stage" and apply effect?

Marty

Maybe I was not clear in my explanation: I want you to have one object instead of a group of 2. Use snagit or snipping tool to create an image of those two objects, insert that image and then you can apply an effect to one object.

Hello There ,

Welcome to Adobe Forums!

I am afraid that you can not apply an effect on a group.

You can apply it individualy then you can adjust the timings in the Effects panel by simply drag and drop.

Thanks and Regards

Thanks Himanshu,

I was afraid that was the case. Now I know.

Marty, that is one of my feature requests for groups. If multiple users enter such a request, it could be realized one day. Please, enter those requests yourself.

Workaround: create an image from the box and the arrow, put that on the stage and apply effect.
