Animated Reveals using Fade Out Only or AlphaToFrom
Hi Community,
I have a question about revealing text and objects. It's a common ask from clients to reveal one bullet at a time, something I've done a lot in the past, but now I'm running into a problem. I have Captivate 9.0.2.437.
Suppose I have a seven bullets and would like to reveal one at a time in sync with audio. I'd like to troubleshoot Solution 1 (below) with the community before I abandon and move onto 2 or 3. Also interested in your ideas.
Solution 1: I've put all text in one caption. My intention is to reveal one bullet at a time using opaque white smart shapes that fade out in sync with audio. My Status: Captivate is succeeding in slide previews but not in project previews and not in published files. Both the "Fade Out Only" transition and the Basic "AlphaToFrom" effects are not working. Darn, I've done this in the past, and I'm at a loss. I've seen this problem "go away" when I republish, but now after 5-6 republishes, I'm not confident it will "go away." Anyone dealing with the same problem?
Solution 2: Put one bullet per text caption and fade in one at a time. This is tedious and I'd like to avoid it if possible.
Solution 3: My preferred solution is to extend the narration over several slides, revealing one bullet per slide and segmenting the audio, thus making animated reveals on each slide a non-issue. I like this solution because it gives the user "Replay" access to shorter segments of narration and it simplifies maintenance over time. Shorter timelines are easier to manage. Changes affect potentially less content. etc. I've done this in the past as designer, but now I'm developer. So the "cons" are that the script and audio were already written and recorded, so some additional audio work would be less efficient that Solution 1. Argh.
Anyone have other ideas recommended practices for animated reveals?
