Another Audio Question

I thought I understood how Captivate (3 or 4) handles recording audio, but now I'm not sure.  I always thought I should set the audio settings as high as possible when I record my audio in Captivate (so I'd have good quality audio), then change the audio settings down when I'm ready to publish so as to reduce the file size but still maintain a decent audio quality.  But now I'm thinking the audio settings dialog only deals with the published mp3 output, not the wav that gets created.  Am I right or wrong in my thinking?  But even that thought confuses me, because in the Advanced Audio Management dialog, it shows all my recorded audio has a sample rate of 44.10 Khz, regardless of what setting I selected when recording (which lends credence to my last statement that it deals only with published output.)  But the bit rate in the Advanced Audio Management dialog shows what I selected when recording (which blows away my last theory.)  So I'm confused.  Can anyone shed any light on what settings I should set when I'm actually recording in Captivate?  Does it matter?

Thanks for your insights.

Mister C.

And Oh, by the way, if I edit any audio in Captivate, it changes the bitrate to 705 kbps.  ??? Message was edited by: rgcunningham

OK, I'm still not sure I understand how Captivate records audio.  In CP6, when I look at the Audio Management dialog box,

the audio sample rate is 44.10 kHz for all audio clips, and the bitrate is 706 kbps for all audio clips.  This is regardless of what audio settings I select when I record the audio:

So, it still looks to me like the Audio Settings dialog only applies when I'm publishing my project, and Captivate is converting the WAVE files to MP3 for the output.  The library stores the WAVE files, and Captivate converts them to MP3 when publishing, using the Audio Settings as shown above.

Am I all wet?  Can someone from Adobe clairfy this???

    Thanks.
