Question

Any known conflicts with XP SP3?

All gratitude for Ricks' fab solution on fixing a staggering, stalling Captivate with his .DAT refresh trick.. BUT I am wondering another thing...

While I was in the throws of labor in trying to figure out the "Text Caption not working" problem, I thought maybe it was because I put XP's latest service pack on -- Service Pack 3. So I meekly admit that in my wild-eyed desparation, I removed SP3 from my new laptop.

Was that a BAD thign to do -- and more relevant -- are there any known conflicts between Captivate 3 and SP-3 (well, they both have 3's in their name).

If I put back SP3 now, will it whack out my Captivate program again? I am down to the wire with this project and my heart is pounding with fear that Captivate will balk out on me again.

thanks, QUIZ QUEEN

    Hi there QQ

If my PC is any indication, I've got SP3 installed and seem to be running Captivate 3 with no obvious issues as a result.

The bottom line is that I believe your issue was probably a bit of corruption in the DAT file. That happens from time to time. Sure would be nice if Adobe were to give us a shortcut to refresh it. Perhaps something like pressing and holding Ctrl+Alt+R when starting Captivate. (I've heard other Adobe applications offer a similar feature)

It would be helpful if you and anyone else wishing to see this feature emerge would request it using the Wish Form.
