App packager browse for folder menu

Hello all, I'm wondering if there's a way to hide options in this menu?

Example: When you click browse to find a HTML5 course, you get:

Desktop

->Libraries

->{User Name}

->Computer

->Network

I'm wondering if there's a way to hide some of these folders such as the User Name folder and Network. The computer is being used in a lab and I'd rather not have students be able to access these folders, and limit them to Computer only. Thank you in advance!

    This is more of a windows question than a Cap thing but there are a couple of things you can try.

    • Right-click the item you want to hide, some of them straight up give you the option "Don't show in navigation pane." This option should be universal to all browse/explorer windows.
    • If you aren't provided with that option choose "Properties" down at the bottom, go to the General tab, and select the "Hidden" checkbox at the bottom. In order for that to stick though you have to have the general folder properties set to not show hidden files or folders. To do that, go to any explorer window, click Organize > Folder and Search Options, View tab, and check the radio button for "Don't show hidden files, folders, or drives"
    • To hide the Navigation Pane entirely, in any explorer window click Organize > Layout and uncheck the Navigation Pane option

    There are nastier ways to hid these things that include some registry hacks and all of them can be undone by a savvy kid that knows where to look to unhide them, particularly if the students have appropriate access.

    Godspeed to you sir! I used to run a university computer lab and my bread and butter was this kind of stuff, it was definitely a challenge to keep things running. Deep Freeze is your friend.
