Are administrative rights necessary?

We are wanting to upgrade to Captivate 9, and are trying to figure out if administrative rights are necessary, and to what degree. In the past we have needed administrative rights only for publishing. Which has allowed users to do everything they need to do, and when it comes time to publish an administrator can publish it for them. With this new version it seems like administrative rights may be necessary for other things before getting to the publishing point. Can anyone shed light on this?

    I imagine you work for a company that locks down their domain level users. It's easy to grant admin rights if you own a PC but much different when you are part of a corporate network. 

     

    Speaking from experience, it was a nightmare working with Captivate on a standard user account and it's much more than just software demos. You pretty much could expect a crash per hour. Captivate was unusable as a regular user without admin rights. My department manager protested greatly but I ended up bringing in my personal laptop to work, just so I could get me work done.

     

    With my last employer (I have since gone freelance), the IT department was eventually able to grant Administrator rights to just the one application. I don't know the procedures but the approval process seemed to be what was difficult. Once we had approval, the IT department created a special shortcut on our desktops, that when used, gave us admin rights for Captivate.

    To use all the functionality of Captivate, especially if you have to create software tutorials, it is recommended to run Captivate as Administrator. That has not changed with this version, has always be the case. That doesn't mean full administrative rights, only for CP.
