Question

Are older licenses still valid?

I have two old licenses for Captivate. Version 1 and version 3. I only need these versions as I don't use it often enough to warrant a subscription. These did the trick fine when I was using it. Where can I download these older versions?

I started with version 2, which was an Adobe Product. However, the box art still had the Macromedia-era Robo Demo logo. I guess if you are publishing a video you could still use the software from this era, but even if you are publishing to video, the quality would be very dated in appearance.

Hmm... I believe both versions were still in the Macromedia period, efore acquirement by Adobe. Very little chance to find them anywhere, not on the Adobe site.

Moreover what could you do with them? They will not be compatible with your present OS on Windows (there was no Mac version at that time). They were only able to create output in SWF, and the Flash player has been banned from all browsers and systems since a while.

I used version 3 about 3 years ago (I believe on Win 10). I was able to export to video. I remember using the video to create a promo for an app I wrote. That with a video editor (for post), was all I needed.

I just found that Captivate was an Adobe product at version 2. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_Captivate)
