Assessment Output

-- I've looked at some of the other postings in this forum and I don't see anything that really answers my questions as far as I can tell. Any help a more experienced user can provide is appreciated. Or, should this post be in a different section of the forum? Thank you! --

I have just recorded a CBT in demo, training, and assessment modes. The three files play just fine. My hope is to somehow create an index where the user would watch the demo, then take the training, and finally, take the assessment. My first problem is with the assessment portion. I have the quiz preferences set up to e-mail the results of the assessment back to me after completion. The user has to select the correct links and enter the correct data in some of the fields to pass the course. The problem is that at the end of the assessment, nothing happens. No e-mail, nothing. When I have created traditional quizzes in Captivate ( T/F, multiple choice, etc.) this feature works just fine. Any ideas?

My second question is regarding menu builder. Would it be the best way to create the index? I don't see any tutorials on menu builder, and while I can guess how to use it, I'd rather have something more visual to look at before using it. Any thoughts?

Thanks! :confused;

An e-mail is only sent if the user clicks the "Send E-mail" button on the Quiz Summary page (or whatever you've changed that button to read). The Quiz Settings just make that button show up on the Summary slide.

As for Menu Builder, it is not well documented, if at all. I've never used it but I've heard that it's a pain since you can't insert items... to add an item, you must delete everything after that point and add them all back in the "new" order.

You might find that it's easier to create a 1-slide project with buttons or click boxes that link to each of your projects. In this way, you have complete control over the look and feel of your menu.

Another alternative is Jesse Warden's Captivate Player, which is a menu-based shell for Captivate projects. It can be downloaded here:

Thank you both for the help, and please ignore my second posting regarding the quiz summary. The "lightbulb" finally turned on...

Thank you for your advice. Regarding the assessment, since it consists basically of having the user go through the software unassisted, is there something special I need to do to create a quiz summary slide? When I test the assessment, I don't get a summary page like I have with traditional quizzes. Thanks again!
