Audio and Closed Captions Not Working

I have a Captivate file that will niether play audio, nor show the closed captions during preview in HTML 5, nor when published and shown in a different program. If allowed to run in preview, by the third slide, sometimes the audio and closed captions from the first slide begin to play, but not always. Slides with mp4 videos inserted will play audio normally, even on top of the audio from the previous slide. All audio plays normally in slide preview, but not in HTML 5 preview. I have searched everywhere for answers and have found nothing like this. I tried reinstalling Captivate because that has fixed weird things in the past but it made no difference here.

You are new to this forum apparently. May I ask you to provide some more clarifications?

Which exact version of Captivate do you use? The full version number can be found under Help, About Captivate.

I suppose you are talking about a non-responsive project? Was that project created originally in the present version you are using? Which theme are you using?

What do you mean by 'slide preview'? If this is the 'Play Slide' option, that is not a preview method at all.

Audio clips and video clips are heavy files. In HTML output those files need to be loaded On Enter for the slide where they reside. Since you talk about overlapping audio, here is a first tip: please allow a small gap before and after the audio timeline, since I suspect you are talking about slide audio which has an individual timeline under the slide timeline:

I am using 11.8.1.

Yes, non-reponsive

Yes, it was created in this verison.

The theme is a custom theme I created. It has not given problems on many other projects prior to this one.

I have spacing before and after as you suggest. When I say overlapping, what I am refering to is that when the preview is running, and slide audio should be playing it does not. Then on the next slide there will be a slide video playing with audio, and halfway through the video, the audio from the previous slide begins to play. This does not always happen, but sometime the audio frm a pervious slide just begins to play randomly at some point on the following slide. Also, when it starts playing slide audio form the previous slide, the closed captions start to work, but they show the captions for the current slide. There are no problems with audio or CC on any of the slides with a video.

This project is basically the the third version I have created using the same format and theme. Each version covers a different topic. All previous versions work just fine, and this one did at first, but at some point along the way, this problem with slide audio popped up.

It is always possible that something has corrupted in that specific project.

Can you try to copy/paste slides in small bunches to a new project having the same theme applied and same resolution? After pasting, always check if you still have the same problem. It could be a way to find the culprit...

Are the audio clips exceptionally big compared with those in the other modules?
