Question

Audio controls Captivate 8

I'm about to give up and find another software. I last used Captivate when I had an earlier version - 6, I think. I never encountered this problem. I'm trying to record a screen simulation, and I can't get the audio to work correctly. I tried three different headsets and two desktop cameras to record the audio, and nothing works.

I've also systematically changed the settings, and doing that just changes the problems I encounter.

When I go with the defaults (or click/unclick System Audio - it doesn't make a difference) you can hear my voice until I click with my mouse. Suddenly the volume turns up for the mouse clicks, and turns DOWN for my voice. You can't even hear me behind the mouse clicks. I tried unchecking Keystrokes in the Settings box, and unchecked the Mouse options in the Modes box, and still the loud clicking remained. I continued in this fashion until I went through every option, to no avail.

I then tried changing the mode to Custom, and that worked for the audio. But no matter what I selected or de-selected in the settings, the preview didn't follow my mouse clicks AT ALL. So Captivate had the voice volume down, but not the mouse movement.

Is Captivate 8 just broken? Are these known bugs, and is there a patch or a newer version or something? Please advise.

Thanks
