Audio Files on Captivate 2019

I am having issues adding audio to slides on captivate. For example, I am adding an MP3 audio file by clicking media then audio and choosing the option to extend the slide for the length of audio. The slide itself extended to the lenth of the audio however, upon reviewing the timeline I noticed that the objects on the slide show in the timeline that they did not extend to the lenght of the audio file. I then clicked on each object individually and went to the timing tab and clicked on display for rest of slide.

Some of the slide are playing the auido that is attached and some of the slides are not playing the audio that is attached. I noticed too that when I started adding audio files that some of the slide began to advance on their own. (Each of my projects slides requires that you click an arrow to advance.)

I am unsure of what the cause for these issues are ans would appreciate some input. Thanks!

    Some tips:

    • When installing Captivate you can set Global Preferences (from the Welcome screen). One of the changes I always do is under Defaults, Object Defaults, Display For. By default it is set to 3 seconds for each type of object, but I change it to Rest of slide, since that is the option I use most. That will avoid the manual editing you did have to do. BTW you can also select multiple objects (I use the Timeline for that) and set their timing under the Timing Properties to 'Rest of slide' if you already created the objects. The shortcut key which I always use for that purpose is CTRL-E, avoids the need to open the Timing panel.
    • Insert raw WAV files, not MP3 files. Much better choice, since Captivate will need to decompress the MP3 files to a WAV file anyway whenever you edit an audio clip. On publishing the compression to MP3 will be done automaticially by Captivate.
    • For slide audio (visible in the Timeline) leave a gap before (and after) the audio timeline for a couple of reasons.

For the auto-advance I need more information. Is the arrow an interactive object with a pausing point? Can you show a screenshot of the timeline of a slide with problems?
