Why are my MP3's converting to WAV files when I edit the clip?

Because you are expected to insert wav-files in Captivate. Those are the audio files with optimal audio quality. When publishing, the wav-files will be converted to mp3 by Captivate. It is not a good idea to insert mp3 files yourself, because they will always be converted to wav in the Library. That means mostly quality loss: going from a compressed mp3 to an uncompressed wav, which will be compressed again at publishing time.
