Audio not playing in Preview and Publish mode

I am a longtime user of Captivate 3 on a Windows XP environment.  This is a problem that didn't exist yesterday but does today.  Until today, I have been able to import audio files (.wav) into my various Captivate modules and been able to hear the audio played while in Preview mode and Publish mode.  As of today, that is no longer true.  The audio DOES play when I'm editing the screen and I play the timeline but does NOT play when I Preview or Publish and play.  So the natural question is, "What did you do different today?"  We recently started work bringing in an LMS so I've been trying out the Captivate SCORM and AICC features to try uploading to the new LMS.  At first I tried it without audio and was successful with the SCORM/zip feature.  I was unsuccessful uploading the AICC/zip version so decided to expand my SCORM testing by adding an audio file to two slides.  It was during this work that I discovered that Captivate would no longer would play the audio when I was in Preview mode.  So then I Published but it didn't work there either.  So I created a stand-alone version and which still didn't play the audio.  All other features seem to be working just fine.  I compared the settings between my work today with that of previous modules (which do still seem to be working just fine in ALL modes)  but have not yet been able to detect any different settings.

I've shut down Captivate and tried again.  I've rebooted my PC and tried again.  I do realize the audio formats are somewhat particular, so I even tried re-using audio files that I've created for previous projects but still get the same result.  I just can't get audio files to play while Captivate is in PREVIEW and PUBLISH mode and I suspect it either has something to do with the SCORM or AICC settings...or that Captivate has somehow become corrupted and I'll need to re-load.

ANYONE ELSE ENCOUNTER THIS ISSUE?  I'd appreciate any suggestions

(And as an aside - I can't get your dang "Insert Image" feature to work on this page.  It tells me "the content type of this image is not allowed" but I've tried jpg, bmp, and png.  I thought these three were the most acceptable formats but not to this site apparently.  And the images are less than 50k each so I'm not exceeding size limits.  So I attached the images below if anyone wants to see what I mean by "play timeline" vs "Preview" and "Publish" modes.)
