Question

Authorware User - Captivate Conversion?

I have developed an educational program using Authorware that I'd like to update and revise.  Since Authorware will no longer be made and I don't know anything about Captivate, is there any way to fairly easily convert some of my content from Authorware to Captivate?  For those who have used both, is Captivate easier to use than Authorware?

Any suggestions/comments would be appreciated.  Thanks.

If you still have the Authorware source code, why not use that to revise instead of re-inventing the wheel with captivate.

I have used both and if Adobe hadn't killing off the Authorware (reduce the competition), I would still be using it now for all my new eLearning development work.

If you are using any of the advance features that authorware provided ( some are reading entire web pages, reading and processing of variables passed via urls, local file system access, ability to work across domains, bookmarking without the use of cookies, direct LMS interaction with action scripting, easy creating of and access to just about all the internal system variables, just to many wonderful feature currently lacking with captivate) you might be out of luck trying to recreate that with captivate.

In time Captivate may reach that same level of greatness.

You may be able to get close by using other programs such as flash and importing them into captivate.

Of course that means spending more money on a second product to improve on the first.
