Question

Auto play not working after preloader % was met

Hi,

We use captivate 9 and set the preloader % to 25% and the preloader file path to the defaultPreloader file and created a course. In TALEO learn when the course is clicked on the course start to download but the auto play does not kick in even after 25% of the course was downloaded. It waits for the whole course to be downloaded before the auto play kicks in. Has anyone experienced this issue and if so is there a fix or a bandwidth issue?

Thanks,

Vinay

A few questions:

  • Are you publishing to HTML5?  If so, the Captivate SWF preloaders will not work.
  • Are you publishing to SWF? If so, have you checked that the preloader is indeed set to 25% in the Preference settings?
  • If this course has been upgraded from an earlier version of Captivate, have you checked that the preloader path in Preference settings is actually pointing to the current Captivate version installation directory?  It could be that the preloader path is still set to look for the preloader SWF in a directory that no longer exists on your PC.

Hi Rod,

Thanks for your response.. Here are my answers to your questions..

  • Are you publishing to HTML5?  If so, the Captivate SWF preloaders will not work.
    • No, I am not publishing to HTML5 but to SWF.
    •

  • Are you publishing to SWF? If so, have you checked that the preloader is indeed set to 25% in the Preference settings?

  • Yes as shown above and I have verified the 25% in preference settings but unclear of what preloader file I am supposed to pick. I just took the one labeled as default.

  • If this course has been upgraded from an earlier version of Captivate, have you checked that the preloader path in Preference settings is actually pointing to the current Captivate version installation directory?  It could be that the preloader path is still set to look for the preloader SWF in a directory that no longer exists on your PC.

  • I have not upgraded Captivate.  The version I have is what was used to create the course.  Captivate version 8.

Thanks,

Vinay
