Autosize buttons

After selecting Project > Autosize Buttons, I expected my buttons and text boxes to change size automatically when the amount of text changed. Instead the buttons and text boxes remain the same size. I'd be grateful if someone can explain this behavior to me and how I can get buttons and text boxes to automatically resize to the amount of text that is in them.
