Background audio and narration only on open/close slides?

I'm having some challenges getting background audio to do what we want.

The goal is:

Slide 1 - Background audio, slide is paused with a button, background audio continues until click. Click button goes to slide 2.

Slide 2 - Background audio is softer, Narration voice over on top. Background audio fades out completely when transition to slide 3.

Slide 3-x content, no background audio

Next to last slide - Background audio fades in softly, Narration voice over on top

Last slide - Background audio back to volume of slide 1.

I've tried the background audio settings and assigning the audio to an object but I can't get the result above.

Any suggestions?

I figured it out with help from a peer. Right in front of my face; if it'd been a snake I'd be dead.

Imported audio to the background.

Decrease volume on background on slides with audio (my narration).

On slides 3-n where I didn't want the background, I selected the "Stop Background Audio" in the slide properties.

On my closing slides, I left that un-checked and it fades in as I wanted.
