Question

Background audio and slide audio don't play nice

I have background audio on my Captivate 5.5 project. Some slides have slide audio, but the slide audio doesn't always play for the whole slide. Therefore, the background audio plays for part of a slide and the slide audio plays for part of the slide.

When this happens, more often than not, there is an abrupt and annoying transition between the background audio and the slide audio.

I have the background audio lowered to 10% when slide audio plays, which gives a slightly better transition than zero % or less than 10%, but still doesn't sound good.

What is needed if for the background audio to fade out before the slide audio starts. But, I don't see an option for that.

Does anyone know a workaround to make smoother transitions between background audio and slide audio?

It may just be easier to use a third party program like Audacity (free) to put he pieces of audio together as you'd like and save it as a single audio file. You could then just use that one file as a slide audio. The tricky part is just getting the timing right as you'd like it, but it's quite simple to reduce the db of the background audio for the duration of that second audio and then saving it as a .wav or whatnot

I did consider doing that, although it would be difficult to match up the background audio seamlessly from one slide to the next. If it weren't for the all the extra time involved and the deadlines involved, I'd give it a try.
