Be careful when updating an existing project to Captivate 9

I should have known better because I've had problems in the past, but I updated existing projects to v9 so that I could take advantage of some of the bug fixes and new features.  I now find that the process has turned all the existing conditional advanced actions into useless gobbledegook standard actions.
