Question

Be careful when upgrading!

Just wanted to share this piece of information and, hopefully, save some of you some headaches.

My organization recently upgraded from Captivate 7 to 9.  I upgraded the project I was working on from 7 to 9, but in the process 9 converted all of my Conditional Advanced Actions to Standard Actions (in kept all my show/hides, etc. but eliminated the IF statements) and anywhere I referenced a Variable it stripped the content out as well.

Luckily, I'd "Saved As" when I upgraded the project so I still had the Cap 7 version.  I ended up having to manually copying all of my conditions and variables from a laptop with the version 7 course open into the Ver9 variation....it is a big project, so it took a lot of time.

Just wanted to share that info.

Jay

The positive side is that you have to consider using shared actions, which have improved over the ones you had in the 7 version. Moreover, the multistate objects allow to make some actions unnecessary or they can be simplified a lot.

    Jay,

You'll be happy to know that Adobe has released a patch for Cp9 that addresses this known issue.

    RodWard,

I forward the link you provide to my IT folks.  The problem is that the link to the .zip file to download the patch is broken.  Any idea on another route to get to that patch?

    Thanks much for the response.

    Jay

I just checked and that link works fine for me.  Your IT folks might need to be logged in with an Adobe ID for it to work.
