Best Resolution for an iPad using Captivate 7

I'm using Captivate 7 and choose the preset iPad landscape resolution for the project.  The Captivate manual states to use the preset iPad sizes to yield the best results.  However, the module is too big for the iPad screen.  I found an older posting that recommended using 980 X 660 for an iPad and provided this link as a general resolution resource.  Before I continue to build more modules, can anyone share some advice?  Are there different size iPad screens that are causing this issue?  I'm I missing something obvious?

Thanks.

FWIW, after lots of trials, we've found that 960 x 630 works best.

It seem like what's not being taken into account in the default ipad project size is the space that might be required for the TOC.

For completeness of this thread...

We don't use TOC or the playbar. We successfully deploy content to all our mobility users on 995 x 657. I find we need all the screen area we can get - particularly with hot-spots having to be that much larger to be "tappable".

Hi Dee Gee,

The best ipad lanscape project size : 1024 X 627  (with CpPlaybarMobile)

The best ipad Potrait project size : 768 X 883  (with CpPlaybarMobile)

For example

Captivate Project dimensions in  landscape mode width = 1024

Captivate Project dimensions in  landscape mode height = View Port size of the ipad in landscape mode - Playbar size (we suggest to use CpPlaybarMobile, whose height is 45 pixels) - space occupied by navigation bar+ browser bar(96)

Captivate project dimension height = 768 - 45 -96 = 627

To find out viewport size of a device, check it out on viewportsizes.com

Thanks,

Sankaram.

Hi DeeGee (cool screen name if I say so myself)

You may beon to something with regards to the different screen sizes.I know that the orginal IPAD, IPAD 2, Air etc all have different resolutions.

The AIR has

  • 2048x1536 resolution at 264 pixels per inch (ppi)

Where as the IPAD 2 has

  • 1024x768 resolution at 132 pixels per inch (ppi)

Maybe try those resolution settings, it might help. I am in the process of exprimenting myself. I will get back to you if I find somethign that works.
