best way to reduce the size of software simulation background?

Hello,

I think I did something dumb and recorded 5 or 6 software simulations "Full Screen", so that each of the resulting backgrounds are 2500 KB and a handful are 7056 KB, resulting in an .cptx file that sometimes takes 60 seconds to open.  Does anyone have any experience with this?  Is the best way to reduce the size of the background simply to export it, reduce the resolution, and import it again?

Nope.  Best option is to re-record it all again at the right size (meaning the final size it needs to be displayed at).  Rescaling content always results in some degradation of clarity.
