Question

Beware of # and % in Video File Names

If you're having problems with Captivate displaying your video file, one reason could be your video's file name.

After several hours of trial and error, I've discovered that including a # or % sign in your video file names will cause them to appear invisible, or simply not play, in Captivate. However, symbols such as @$^&*()~`; are all fair game. Looks like my video Topic #1 will now become Topic 1.

Hopefully this post can help prevent someone else from a multi hour long search for a fix.

My advice over the years has been to always avoid spaces and symbols and use camel casing when naming files.

    Eliminates that issue altogether.

Totally agree!  DOS naming conventions always work!
