Hi Community.

I have published a course with 27 slides an three short mp4 videos         (10, 15 and 20 mb). First I published the course only in HTML5. Videos worked perfect but with the video-player in HTML5  learners could download the videos to easy. So I published the course again with SWF settings. Now the users can not download the videos, b         ut only one of those three videos are shown. The first two are just loading.

I have tried to find help and did research without finding any solution.

The LMS is Moodle and videos are integrated in the slides with Progressive-Video-Download.

Can someone please help?

I would also support the move to Vimeo - it made my work a lot easier since I was also having issues with large Captivate files.  It is very easy to embed, and Vimeo allows for a lot more control (for example what screens popup when the video ends, etc.).

I also found that there are a lot of great ways that Vimeo videos can interact with Captivate through the Vimeo API.  I wrote a blog post if you need to learn that functionality as well.

You mentioned that a streaming service is too complicated but have you considered uploading your videos to YouTube. Presuming that your learners have access to YouTube, you can list your videos as unlisted, which means that they are not searchable on YouTube's or Google's search engine so they can remain relatively private. You can use a web object to embed these videos and there are a variety of codes that can be added to your embed code to control how the videos look and operate.

Here is a link to a video I did on how you can achieve this.

Adobe Captivate - A Better Embed Code for Video

I have a variety of videos that cover various topics on working with video in Adobe Captivate. Check out my channel when you have more time.

Hi Paul

What an honor. I am always on your channel checking out your videos. Thank you very much for your supportive tutorials. They helped me a lot.

With complicated I meant that it would just be easier for me to insert the videos directly into the project instead of managing different places . The other reason why I don't want a streaming service is just because I don't want to rely on others. Well I have considered that, but I think Vimeo would be better for me, because of the ads. Do you have experience with Vimeo?

While the SWF approach may better protect the video downloads, it will cause issues now with browser's locking down/out the Flash Player. Your users may be able to get around that now by allowing the Flash Player activation but in the next year or so, they won't be able to do that either.

Better to use the MP4 approach to maintain viability of your program overall. Downloading MP4s is just something you'll have to resign yourself to. If an issue, watermark the videos with your brand, or you could look into a streaming service that allows such lock-downs.

Thank you for your reply. I looked up some streaming services, but it will make things to complicated for me. What I have no done is, I have exported the project as HTML5 and used as skin type for the video "none". So learners can not download the video. The big downside is that they also can not change the timeline or pause the video.

It would be great if anyone would have a solution for that. Why is there no option to disable the download button in the skin? :/ I am sure it would be an easy fix.

It is not clear to me, I'm not a video specialist. If you insert the video as synchronized video, you will not have the dedicated control panel you are getting for event video. You can add custom play/pause buttons (and other buttons) or use the default playbar of Captivate with its buttons. Contrary to event video, syncrhonized video is controlled by Captivate.
