Hoping someone can help me with this one... after hours browsing Help/Support?Forums etc:(

Using Captivate 3, I want to branch from an swf file (the prototype) to another swf file (a demo)... when that finishes I want to learner returned to a slide in the prototype so that can select to view another demo.

I can't make this happen... and assume that I am not the first person to want to do this?
Appreciate any help.
Thanks heaps.

Welcome to our community, Kate

Should be pretty straightforward. I'm assuming you are linking from a Button or a Click Box in your Prototype, right?

The key is to program the object (Button or Click Box) to open in a new window. Look to the right of where you type the URL. You should see a button with a downward arrow on it. Click it and choose New. Click it a second time and DE-select the "Continue playing project" option. By using this approach, the slide pauses and waits for the user to click. The user clicks and a new window opens on top of the current window. So the Prototype should still be open and paused at the slide with the Buttons or Click Boxes. The user finishes interacting with the new window or tab and closes it. They are returned to the original movie at the same place where they left off.

Hopefully this helps... Rick

Thanks Rick... appreciate your taking time to respond. I am not quite there yet though.

When you say....
"The user finishes interacting with the new window or tab and closes it. They are returned to the original movie at the same place where they left off."

Is there a way for the the user to be auto returned to the original movie - and/or to a prior slide in the original movie....simply because I want it to be seamless to the users so they don't even know they are launching something which is outside of the original movie.

PS Why am I using this structure? - because otherwise the original movie would be too long/large.
