Brand new to Captivate

What is the best way to learn to use Captivate for someone with NO learning software development experience.  I have never used any version of Captivate.  I am finding the Introducing Captivate 2019 to be unhelpful as it focuses on new features and functionality (and assumes a base of prior knowledge with earlier versions) vs. teaching someone how to start at the very beginning and use this software.  Where can I find or get actual TRAINING?

Hi BLPalmer

I don't know how it is for you, but most of us use Captivate to work/earn money, I suppose. So it might be worth to invest a little money on effective training. There's a thorough training course Adobe Captivate Essential Training on LinkedIn Learning by David Rivers:

Learning Objectives:

  • Explore how to build, preview, and close projects.
  • Create responsive projects.
  • Use Fluid Boxes to make your work more flexible.
  • Edit master slides.
  • Add and program buttons.
  • Select the best file format for your project.
  • Add closed captions and voiceovers.
  • Explore other eLearning platforms, including SCORMs.

Don't know the price for this at the top of my head, but you can find out.

Lesser effective, though useful still: https://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/user-guide.html

No one is totally new to learning, and eLearning is that. No one is totally new to IT, you know how to manage a mouse, trackpad, probably even mastered some shortcuts. That is my moto, I only offer personalized training and every trainee has other needs.

The myth is that you can find training for free tailored to your requirements. There is a lot around everywhere, but no one is curating free published tutorials. You can assist webinars as well, buy books (never found a good one).

About Captivate, this is not a tutorial but lists up the most important stumbling blocks for Captivate newbies. You add to that the use of responsive projects. This is based on >10 years of answering questions on all social media almost daily.
