Question

Bulk replace images?

I know absolutely nothing about Adobe Captivate so forgive incorrect terminology or stupid questions...

I'm starting this 'discussion', because I want to know if Captivate can do something, so I can make a decision on starting to use it or not.

Here we go.

I want to make a course (simulation) in Captivate (it will be a system-training). Per 'sheet/slide' I will have a screenshot of my system. I will at least have 30 different screenshots (images) per Captivate file.

At some point all my screenshots will have to be replaced with new versions as a new version of my system will be deployed. Does Captivate support bulk-replacement, so I basically have to push 1 button and my 'slides' will be automatically updated with the new screenshots? Or should you always do something per image (so execute something manually 30 times?).

If it's possible to replace these screenshots/images in one go, should I build my source material in somekind of special way? (link the images in special folders or anything?)

Thanks a lot for all tips/help.

Ellen

Is it not possible to use the Captivate Software Simulation feature instead of having static screenshots?

Captivate files have a Library. All images are in the library. You can edit each image, keep same name. However a one button, or batch processing, AFAIK is not possible.

Thanks for your quick answer Lilybiri, much appreciated.

Follow up question: I'm planning on taking these screenshots automatically, that's why it will be static formats.

Is it maybe possible to link my 'pictures' externally to Captivate?

    Thanks!

Another idea if you have Photoshop. Captivate has great round tripping with

it. Put each screenshot on a layer in PS. Import the PS file in CP. Each

layer will be converted to a PNG image. You can drag them from the Library

on slides. If you replace the images in the PS file, you will be warned in

the Library by a red indicator and you will just have to update: one click!
