Hi

I have around 2000+ captivate SWF videos uploaded in Moodle.  I am migrating moodle to the latest to work for mobile devices.  Since it is flash output, I need to convert the videos to HTML5.  Is there a way to automate the conversion of 2000+ captivate videos HTML5?

Any suggestions would be of great assistance.

Regards

Thanga

There's no way to do that.

Well, no easy way to do that.

There are Windows programs that hook to the system pretty deeply and will let you record a variety of Windows events...

(the names of them escape me)

With such a program,. you could possibly generate an automated script that would move the cursor to Captivate's 'open' menu item, select a file, select 'publish', select the proper options, etc...

But I can't imagine it would be simple, nor cheap, nor feasible.

Otherwise, there's no 'batch conversion' application or process that I'm aware of.

Hire some of your coworkers' kids for $5 a conversion

Even conscripting child labor is not going to be the answer on this one.

If these SWFs do not include interactivity then you can possibly just play them and record the animation as a video demo.  But that's not really automated either.

IF there is interactivity involved, then you need to open the original CPTX files, go through and eliminate any components that are not compatible with HTML5 output, and then republish to HTML5 before testing that everything works as expected.  Once again, this is NOT automated and it's going to require a lot more experience with Captivate than even your average 14 yr old would have.

2,000 SWFs?  You're in for a LOT of hours here.
