Question

Button must be clicked twice

At the end of a quiz, when you click the Submit button, nothing happens.  When it is clicked a second time, it goes to the next slide.  Can anyone suggest a fix for this?  What can I check to see if I configured my interactions properly?

Please tell the exact version your are using. Full version number can be found under Help, About Captivate. The answer to your question will be very different depending on the version. If you are NOT on the new version 12, show a screenshot of the timeline of that question slide, and of the master slide it is based on. I suspect you have messed up by deleting embedded objects, or you have added custom interactive objects. More details after you told the version number.

I am busy with a blog post about localising quizzes for that version. I don't like most changes in the quizzes. There are still two steps in the Submit process like in previous versions, but there is no way to tweak this:

    1. First step: learner clicks the Submit button, and the feedback caption appears on the chosen location (top/bottom/middle), while the answers/question are dimmed. That feedback caption explains (like in previous versions) that you have to click on the slide or press Y to continue, which will be the second step.
    2.  Second step: learner clicks on the slide or presses Y, the action specified for Success/Failure will be done, and the default action is 'Go to Next Slide'.

If you understand this process, you see that you don't need to click twice on the Submit button, although that works because it is part of the slide. Someone asked me a while ago how to take out the feedback messages, which would mean to reduce submitting to one step. It is not possible, although it was very simple in Captivate Classic. Read my blog post for more details:

Get rid of Quiz Feedback messages In New Captivate 12.2 - Captivate blog (lilybiri.com)

It is written for 12.2, but is still valid in 12.3.
