button states on a master slide

I want to put full course navigation on several master slides.  I've read that you can only use smart shapes as buttons on a master slide, which I could work with, but how do you do states for those buttons?  Ideally I'd like text buttons since that's what I'll be doing but that doesn't seem possible...

Is there an answer for this?

Shape buttons could have states on master slides in 8 but that feature was

lost in CP9 and is still not restored after two patches. I am very sad

about that, logged it right away when 9 was released more than 1  year ago,

but it seems not important enough. You have to cope with the old two-states

    as in version 7.

That is a horrible feature to remove.  I'll be making a feature request immediately.  I can do that in Storyline2.  I'm finding the Storyline master slides and master slide functions to be much more user friendly than the master slides in Captivate.    Thank you for the quick response.

Yes, please add your voice to get this feature back.
