Question

Buttons to launch embedded SWFs

I'm new to Captivate, so this might be (very) easily answered...

I'm building eLearning to demonstrate the operation of an elevator.

I'm planning to build SWFs to animate the motion (I'm currently emulating the motion with an ultra-simple SWF with a rectangle that moves across the screen).  However, what I need is a method of creating buttons that might be labelled 'up' and 'down' that will launch the relevant SWF to display the desired motion.

Is this possible?  If not, how might I go about achieving this motion?

Thanks, I'll look into those.  Sorry for the delay, I've been on a 2-week vacation in a place where even the merest electron refuses to travel without an expert guide and a pack mule.

It could also be done with motion effects within Captivate. Of course the components that Rod is referring to are much more powerful, wonderful widgets.

As for embedding the SWF's (as animations), I have to double-check because I'm now always using Edge Animate animations.

Since your output is going to be SWF, you could also use the Slider widget or Rotator widget.  You can use them to create vertical, horizontal or rotational movement that you can control via Advanced Actions.
