C8: microphone volume being reset

Let me preface this by saying I recorded about 8 individual screens of audio when this problem started. In C8 when I now select the red "record" audio button my microphone volume is reset to 13 when it was up in the 70's. If I change the volume to the 50's, it still resets it to 13. I am trying to record to individual screens. I tried recording with narration and system audio. Both reset the mike to 13 as soon as you select the red record audio button. Recording to .wav and importing seems labor-intensive and defeats the purpose of recording with C8.I have reset my computer, cleared the cache, checked my preferences and cussed !!! I even switched computers and it does the same thing, reset to a volume of 13, not 12.... nor 14......13...every time !!

    I fixed the problem through experimentation with the volume mixer (Windows 8; C8). Here is how I solved my specific problem: First: record to a .wav file maker software. Then in the volume mixer, select the mike, under mike properties (levels tab) put mike boost to zero d.b. (lower selection) and adjust the volume with (the upper selection) mike volume. Then hit OK. Back on the volume mixer adjust the mike volume as necessary.....a little experimentation and the volumes are perfect. However, I still can't record to Captivate 8....so in reality my problem is not solved... this is just a work-around !!

    My microphone set-up is the same as in the link.

    I was moving along recording just fine(I believe I completed 8 slides) when this problem popped-up.

    As soon as I hit the red record button….you can barely hear my voice.

    I have shutdown/reset my computer and changed computers….same problem.
