Question

Can anyone tell me how I can show a 'visited-state' with captivate without using advanced actions?

I have a jeopardy game that the user clicks on buttons to view questions for specific dollar amounts and categories. When the user returns to the gameboard, I would like the board to show where the user has been. I am trying to use click boxes layered on buttons but despite my attempts - I simply cannot force the navigation to 'jump to slide' and 'apply effect' / 'show' for a visited state button with one click.

*I am trying to figure out how to do this without the advanced options, because the HTML5 converter does not support this interactivity.* The end result will be on an ipad. Thanks.

Can anyone guide me through the Advanced Actions then? It seems to give me the option of opening an external file/program but not

I hope the HTML5 converter will catch up...

Do you want something like I used in the two blog posts about games:

    Concentration game

    Gaming in Las Vegas

Here I used two slides, with objects shown for the rest of the project. Those objects can be hidden on any slide where they are visible. If you explain in detail what you want to achieve, perhaps with some screenshots, will try to guide.

I want to be able to click on a button (or click box) and the user is navigated to another slide AND the button that was clicked 'fades' into a visited state. So two effects... one click. There are several buttons on the screen so the user can visit in any order and the visited state must be accurate for the end user to rmember where they have been. Can you help?

    Hello, welcome to the forum,

Indeed, I'm not aware of another possibility, than with advanced actions that are not (yet) supported by the HTML5 converter. BTW Effects are not supported neither in the beta version.

Click boxes on top of buttons is asking for troubles...Perhaps with simple show/hide actions used on objects that are timed for the rest of the project you could achieve something? Problem is that each event can only have one simple action attached, so you'll have to reflect on how many interactive objects you'll neeed.

To my knowledge this is not going to be doable without Advanced Actions.

If you intend using Captivate to create this course, you may have to wait until the HTML5 converter catches up.
