Hi All,

We are currently using Frame Maker (2019 release) ,Version: 15.0.4.751  We are planning to include Video/GIFs in our User Manual for better understanding. Am looking for a Adobe tool to record screen [user action on a PC] .Also tool to create animated GIFs . Example : Packet flow through a Network.

I have Adobe Captivate [2019 release , version 11.5.5.553] Installed .Am able to record screen using it. Is there a option on Adobe Captivate to convert the full or part of  video recorded in captivate to a GIF File.

Publishing to MP4 is not a problem. You can even use Video Demo in this case, which has only output to MP4. Why would you need to convert to an animated GIF which has a lot of limitations?  Probably for the file size? Cannot Framemaker embed MP4? I have no longer access to Framemaker which I used extensively for my courses, have no idea about its evolution towards digital output.

    Hi Lilybiri,

You are right! my concern is file size. Frame maker can embed MP4 files. i have checked it, it can even embed GIF files. Compared to other tools, Captivate is better for VIdeo File size, if we dont have any other Adobe tool to create GIFs, then i can proceed with Adobe Captivate.

Is t possible to crop /cut part of the captured video in Captivate?

I unchecked the correct answer as moderator.

Can you clarify? Was the video created with Video Demo?  Or do you talk about a software simulation? For other videos the editing possibilities are limited, especiallyif you inserted them as event video.

There is no option to publish Captivate content to Anmated GIF format.  You can however publish to MP4 video and then you would be able to use other commercially available software apps to convert the MP4 to GIF.

However, I would recommend you investigate whether there are other better solutions as I do not believe Adobe had this kind of workflow in mind for Captivate.  If all you are doing is capturing a set of screenshots to convert to animated GIF there may be other tools that do it a lot better.

    Thank You RodWard!!!

i have already explored Tecsmith Snagit tool for screen capture adn convertig to GIF. It works fine.

i also wanted to create animated GIFs for explaining concepts like traffic flow through a circuit. If both these could be achieved in one tool , it will be great

Right now, adobe captivate is better comparing video file size

Since we have license to Adobe, just wanted to know if Adobe provides any tool that could meet the above requirement. if not two different tools are also fine
