Can I export an Adobe Captivate Screen Capture and then import it into Premier Pro CC 2017?

Hi, 

I have a demo version of Adobe Captivate running at the moment. I also have Adobe CC 2017 (not the trial the full version). I want to use Adobe Captivate to record my screen then publish that as an .mp4 file and then imprt the .mp4 file into Premier Pro so I can put together a larger.mp4 file using video and after effects clips.

In the demo I am recording the screen which I then publish and it saves as an .rdmp4 file. When I then open up Premier Pro cc 2017 and try to import the file it doesn't recognise the .rdmp4 file.  Is there a way round this? Are they not compatible? I don't want to buy the Adobe Captivate package if I can't combine it with other Creative Cloud assets.  Can anyone please advise me please?

Hi Susan, 

Captivate integrates really well with other CC products, for example you have round-tripping with Illustrator, Photoshop and Audition but that doesn't sound like the integration you are looking for.

You can, as Sauravge suggested render to an MP4 and import it to either PP or AE, but you may run into pixilation issues when you publish it again in PP or AE, after all MP4 is already a compressed format and then you are compressing it again.

To convert your RDMP4 file to an MP4 file just publish it as a video in the publish>Publish to Computer> Publish As>Video

Hi Susan.

One option would convert the RDMP4 file to MP4 or any other supported format and then import this to Premiere Pro for editing the project according to your needs. 

 

You can subsequently export the Premiere Pro project to any desirable format as required.
