Question

Can I get Captivate to do somthing similar to a project I created in Director?

I am new to Captivae.  I have been given the task of learning this software and doing this project. Most of my experience is in older software (Director 7).

Here is some background information on my project.

I am teaching a 9 subject class. I have each subject  as a seperate Captivate project. Each one of thoes seems to be working great. They will be exported to a LMS (Moodle). Any thing I should look out for sending them to Moodle?

To Finish off this class I wanted to set up a 80 question  practice test (just like the state test they will be taking). So I Figured I could import the questions from the 9 subjects to one project so they would have a random 80 question test just like the state test. The question bank for this project is 584 questions. I have a title slide and 80 random question slides and a result slide. The size of the slides is 800x600 no audio. Cp4 seems to not like this, it wont export. I did read a post on the size of CP4 projects. Is there anything I can do to make it work? This is a key part of the class,I really need to get it working. Any help would be great thanks.

Thanks

This project is possible with CP5 and not CP4.

I was able to import all 584 questions into one project. An create the random 80 question quiz (from my 584 question bank). I had to split the questions into 2 question pools (cp5 cant do 1 pool that large). I alternated which question pool the questions pulled from an published it. It works! I hope this helps anyone who has a similar project.

Thank you all for your help and advise

    Hi Ryan

Interesting. Thanks for sharing that as I'm sure it will help others. By chance do you know what the number of questions is that the pools restrict you to?

I heard the Captivate team say we could have hundreds of slides in Cap 5. But nothing was ever mentioned WRT Question Pools and Question Count.

    Cheers... Rick

    Rick,

The best I can tell you is that 584 questions in a pool is to much and 294 questions in a pool works fine, but 2 pools of 294 in a project works too. Oh and this is with 80 random question slides.

I also have a 161 slides in a project (CP4 not covereted over yet) that works fine.

My suggestion is to break the test part into 9 "parts" as well, and make each one a separate project.  Chain them together, and you will then need to somehow pull the scores together with the LMS.  You can make it seem seamless to the user, but it will cut down on the one big bloated project file.  There was a nice repost of a daisy chain work flow posted within the last week or so... that should work for you.

Thanks, I'll go look for that daisy Chain info. Hope it works, I'll Let you know.

Part of the reason I suggested this softeware to my company was because I was hoping to be able to create this Practice Test for the student and deliver it both on CD-ROM and On-Line. Is this still going to be possible?

I'm looking at this daisy chain thing...so if i split my project into 9 parts (one for each chapter) an daisy chain them, it will play part one then two... ok so is there any way to do it so it randomly pulls 80 questions from all 9 parts like out current cd-rom does? This is supose to mimic the state test.
