Can I switch off the success/failure captions in All-New Captivate

Hi I am using all-new Captivate v 12.2.0.19

I am setting up a quiz using the multiple choice question slide. It seems that it is not possible to switch off the success and failure captions. I hope I'm wrong...

The caption checkbox in the components section is greyed out and the show/hide button does not effect the output

Many thanks in advance for any input on this

M

The feedback captions have a double goal, same as in previous versions:

    1. Indicate whether the answer is correct/incorrect
    2. Keep slide paused and tell to click Y or the slide to proceed.

If I understand you well, you want to skip the first goal? Start by editing the Default labels for Success/Failure messages (maybe they now have a different term) and take out the part about Correct/Incorrect, just keep the 'Press Y....'.

You will now need to edit the multistate object with the captions, to have the same color for both Correct/Incorrect messages. But you'll get rid of the direct feedback.

One of the lost features in this new version, or at least I cannot find it anywhere. It is possible in all previous versions of Captivate to turn them off, thus enabling a custom feedback workflow because it also meant that the pausing is released when the learner clicks the Submit button. The mysterious Show/Hide button is only meant to show the multistate object with all feedback messages on the stage. That allows to edit them on each individual quiz slide.  Not very intuitive, IMO, took me a while to figure it out.

You could clear the label for the Correct/Incorrect messages under the Quiz Preferences, Default Labels. For new quiz slides the feedback messages will appear, empty, not what you want I think.

    Hi

    Thanks for letting me know.

Hopefully being able to remove the feedback is something they will bring back later...

On assessments I very rarely want to feedback directly after the user has submited their answer. I am far more likely to use the 'Review quiz' functionality.
